After a short stop in Vancouver Luzi and Lydia (great uncle and great aunt living in Vancouver Downtown;-)) joined me to Whistler. We stopped in Squamish, where is the Stawamus Chief, worlds second largest granite monolith. Looks like "Tegnaplatte im Maggiatal"-just ten times as big! This must be a great climbing spot. Anyway it was not really climbing weather...In Whistler I had my first coachsurfing experience: I stayed at Pauls marvelous house, where I had a floor for myself! He was a bikepro and DJ, so it was very interesting and entertaining. But the weather did'nt get better. So I had to go downhillbiking in light rainfall (snowfall at the top of the mountain). Maybe I should say dirtbiking... With more than 50 trails Whistlers Bikepark is huge! There are trails for every riderlevel. I was happy with the green and blue ones;). Even in these muddy and slippery conditions there were many riders, also women and children! It was amazing: Downhillers you have to go there! But dont't be surprised if the "Sicherheitsbügu" of the lifts aren't used. Swiss ski instructors nightmare is just normal around here... But Whistler is not only the Donhillmekka, I'd also like to know how it is in winter... Downhillbikes and Freeskis were in sale in every shop in town. But I was wise enough not fo buy skis -they wouln't be really handy for travelling another month.
